Happy birthday, Ravi. Big ups to my brother-from-another-mother (-and-father).
He's made me a better man, helped me live a better life, and made it a better world. Thanks.
To everyone: If you don't know him, you should. Here's something for starters.
What should you get him for his birthday? He started a dope commercial music production / composition / whatever company this time (roughly) last year, copilot. You should hire them. Maybe you aren't making a commercial and don't have a film to score, but doesn't everyone need a personal theme song?
My gift was this mix of songs that have been valued companions of late:
Celebration, "War"
The Killers, "A Dustland Fairytale" (go ahead, give me shit!)
Big Star, "Give Me Another Chance"
Cold War Kids, "We Used to Vacation"
Animal Collective, "For Reverend Green"
Faces, "Bad 'n' Ruin"
Iggy Pop, "The Passenger"
Liam Finn, "Second Chance"
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Runaway"
The Apples in Stereo, "King of Carrot Flowers, Pt. 3" (cover of the Neutral Milk Hotel dopeness)
Camper Van Beethoven, "Pictures of Matchstick Man"
UPDATE: Available for your very own purchase here at iTunes. Not that I think you should - just convenient.
(If I had some spare time and was more savvy, I would make this some kind of free embedded player thing so you could listen to it here. I'll see if I can figure out that whole embedded player thing, later.)
Back to the salt mines!

Crap. Now I've got "Pictures of Matchstick Men" stuck in my head. Only the Slickees are singing it, and it's 1982. Maybe that's a good thing.
Happy birthday and many more to one of the nicest, coolest guys on planet earth! xoxo
