The Four Horseman of July

My dear friend Jon sent this to me and two other folks yesterday:
Hi people.

We all have blogs. All of us.
I for one never fucking update mine.
Stooopid. Stupid. tsupsitid.

Challenge.
Starting July 1. Ending July 31. We all update every day. Before you start, check each other's blogs. If someone else has something else up, use their new post as an influence on what you create (however ,whatever, etc.). If no one has created anything, it's up to you.

Thank you, and good day.

Love,
Jon
And the participants are:
Jon: StartTouching.blogspot.com
Adam: TheRealAdamGood.com
Jamie: VeryMostGood.com
Kate: HeadSticks.com

So it starts tomorrow.
Thank you, and good day.

Love,
Jamie

Thanks, Justin!

I watched the cats... and he brought this back for me from Austin. Holding paperclips for now, but eventually it will hold the teeth of my enemies.

Meanwhile, you my gentle reader, should go buy Justin's latest book, MLKNG SCKLS. It's only $8 for chrissakes.

Outta the way! Here comes a rollerskatin' rainbow!

From Laser Bread's flickr today.

No seriously, you should check this Laser Bread person's stuff out. On a regular basis. So you can be happy, too.

A Note to My Inner 16 Year-Old Girl, From the Killers

...from "Dustland Fairytale"

Now Cinderella don't you go to sleep
It's such a bitter form of Refuge

Don't you know the kingdom's under seige
And everybody needs you

I think I'll be reading this note regularly. And now, I know I have officially expended my "sap" ration for the week.

Heroine Faces Floods, Obliterates Reality

They all want to take care of her.
Fists wrapped in cloth.
Her eyes are a different shade in the mirror.

They all want her to do right.
She was looking for the eight-count.
No guiding hand, the ravens call.

They all want her to, want her to want her.
Don’t be tricked, gentle reader,
There’s no time travel this time.

The Last Innocent falls down the stairs and remains Innocent.

This Is Your Website on Bankruptcy

Was doing some brainstorming with colleagues about editorial representations of bankruptcies for a bit today (what the hell does he do for a living again?) and it got me to thinking, what does Lehman's site look like these days. Well here you go:

And for old time's sake:

I love this man!

Happy birthday, Ravi. Big ups to my brother-from-another-mother (-and-father).

He's made me a better man, helped me live a better life, and made it a better world. Thanks.

To everyone: If you don't know him, you should. Here's something for starters.

What should you get him for his birthday? He started a dope commercial music production / composition / whatever company this time (roughly) last year, copilot. You should hire them. Maybe you aren't making a commercial and don't have a film to score, but doesn't everyone need a personal theme song?

My gift was this mix of songs that have been valued companions of late:
Celebration, "War"
The Killers, "A Dustland Fairytale" (go ahead, give me shit!)
Big Star, "Give Me Another Chance"
Cold War Kids, "We Used to Vacation"
Animal Collective, "For Reverend Green"
Faces, "Bad 'n' Ruin"
Iggy Pop, "The Passenger"
Liam Finn, "Second Chance"
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Runaway"
The Apples in Stereo, "King of Carrot Flowers, Pt. 3" (cover of the Neutral Milk Hotel dopeness)
Camper Van Beethoven, "Pictures of Matchstick Man"

UPDATE: Available for your very own purchase here at iTunes. Not that I think you should - just convenient.

(If I had some spare time and was more savvy, I would make this some kind of free embedded player thing so you could listen to it here. I'll see if I can figure out that whole embedded player thing, later.)

Back to the salt mines!

from Laser Bread: stubble self portrait

stubble self portrait, originally uploaded by Laser Bread.

This guy (or maybe it is more than one guy) is constantly turning out great craftsman pieces (like this one) and conceptually tweaked stuff (look in his stream for "Mice Graffiti") worth "friending" on Flickr and then following...
